Collins man sentenced for probation violation

COLLINS, MS (WDAM)- A Collins man appeared in United States Circuit Court Wednesday after he violated the terms of his probation.

Brett Rogers, 43 was on supervised probation for making Internet threats toward FBI agents last year. One of the terms of his probation was he was not supposed to have any contact with federal agents.

Rogers was arrested recently after he had left voice mails on an agents phone. In court Wednesday Rogers admitted to leaving the voice mails.

Dr. Elliot Nipper, and Orthopedic Surgeon with Southern Bone and Joint, will lead a discussion on the advancements in hip technology at the Senior Circle Lunch and Learn program on July 19 at 11 a.m. in the Glenn Smith Room at Wesley Medical Center.

The seminar is part of an ongoing monthly series, featuring local physicians discussing a variety of health and wellness topics. Dr. Nipper is a fellowship-trained arthritic joint replacement orthopedic surgeon. He will speak about issues regarding hip surgery and answer common questions on the subject.

Fidel Sendra, M.D., has joined the medical staff at Wesley Medical Center. Dr. Sednra received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Dog attack sends Covington County 3-year-old to the hospital

MOUNT OLIVE, MS (WDAM)- A 3-year-old was sent to the hospital over the weekend after sustaining injuries from a dog attack.

According to Deputy Michael Kelly of the Covington County Sheriff's Department, the attack occurred in Covington County Saturday evening. The 3-year-old is still in the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Officer Kelly says the dog was a pit bull breed and has been put-down. An autopsy will be conducted of the animal by the CDC to test for any diseases.
