Although many Mississippi gardeners are wondering if it will ever quit raining and let their landscapes dry out a bit, now is actually a good time to think ahead to the inevitable hot and dry weather of summer.

Dry conditions create problems for our home gardens and landscapes, and gardeners water their lawns and landscape beds a lot more than usual during these times.

Covington County Vietnam War dead honored

A monument honoring Covington County Vietnam War veterans is unveiled Saturday in Collins.

COLLINS, MS (WDAM)- A local patriotic organization has honored the Covington County men who were killed in action in the Vietnam War. In a ceremony Saturday, the Covington County Genealogical and Historical Society Society unveiled a monument on the grounds of the county courthouse.

It includes the names of the four soldiers who died in that war. 

During the service, a bell was rung for each of them, Taps was played and a wreath was placed at the monument.

PRCC graduates advised to set goals and keep trying

The following is a news release from Pearl River Community College:

Set targets for success and keep shooting at them, state Rep. Mark Formby said Wednesday during  Pearl River Community College graduation exercises at the Forrest County Multi Purpose Center.

Formby, a former PRCC student, told the graduates and their families not to be discouraged when they fail to hit a target, using his own political losses as an example.
